Too Busy!
Family time is a lost art in these busy times. Everybody is going to work and rush home so they can hurry off to the second job. While the kid's may be asking to play ball in the back yard or help him build a special house with his new Lego toy building set. Perhaps she wants you to stop and read a story to her. We seem to be too busy for such activities. After all I have to get to work, so we promise to do it later or get something as a surprise from the store on the way home.
In reality they are not wanting a new surprise something. They were just wanting your love and attention for just a little while. Before you can hardly turn around that little boy or girl has arrived at their teenage years. So now you find the shoe on the other foot. Now you are asking, "Son could you go with me to eat tonight?" "Sorry, I can't tonight. I'm to busy and I have to hurry."
While the daughter responds, "I can't tonight. I have a date and I have to get ready. He is here now so I have to hurry and go. See you later."
When they were little they just wanted your love and attention. So many times we find ourselves in this kind of circumstances. When they wanted to talk and play we were to busy. Now we want to talk and play and they are too busy for us.
Now the years have come and gone. Before you know it you suddenly find you can't work anymore. So now you have all kinds of time on your hands, but the family is too busy to stop by and check on you. It makes for a lonely time.
May I encourage you not to just take time, but “MAKE TIME” for your family while you are able. Make a plan and set aside certain days for family activities and you will find your relationships with your spouse and kids are so much healthier. You are creating special memories in all of their lives. They will cherish those times not only while you are doing them, but for years to come. It will bring happiness and joy to their hearts as they go about their lives and guess what? They tend to do the same for your grandchildren. Oh, by the way, the joy and happiness it brings to you as you reminisce of those times in your old age. Then you will have more time than you know what to do with!
In the end, the most valuable thing you have in this life is your family! So determine to MAKE A PLAN AND THEN WORK THE PLAN!
Until next time, may you be blessed.
